At a preschool, there are 2 teachers for the three-year-olds’ classes and 20 three-year olds. There are 3 teachers for the four-year-olds’ classes and 45 four-year olds. (NO checks for this problem.)
a. Find the ratio of teachers in three-year-olds’ classes to three-year-olds as a fraction reduced to lowest terms.
b. Find the ratio of teachers in four-year-olds’ classes to four-year-olds as a fraction reduced to lowest terms.
c. Find the ratio of three-year-olds to four-year-olds as a fraction reduced to lowest terms.

Then rewrite this ratio in two other ways

EVERYONE IS WRONG

ok take it step by step.

1) teachers to 3 year olds
2 to 20

simplify, you get 1/10.

2) teachers to 4 year olds
3 to 45
simplify to 1/15

3) this is a little tricky.

See how when you put the simplified ratios above, you can make a 3 part ratio?

teachers : 3 year olds : 4 year old
1 : 10 : 15

So 3 year old to 4 year olds i 10/15, or 2/3.

Two other ways to write this is 2 to 3 or 2 : 3.

Hope that helped!

It can't be 4/9 like everyone is saying cos they did that wihtout making the teachers the same number! The problem is that ther are 2 teachers for 20 3 year olds and 3 teachers for 45 4 year olds. TRUST MEEE!!
