I want to put a cerculation pump on my hot water return to improve waiting time for hot water from our kitchens sink and bathrooms. I know how to install but does it matter where the pump is in the circut? Should it be at the kitchen tap or can it be at the hot water tank? Thanks!

unless your house is plumbed for a recirculation pump you'll have to get a retrofit circulation system..grundfos makes a decent one and has more info at their website...

they also have several diagrams of how it works and also Ithink a clip on proper installation techniques....you'll want to install the recirc pump on the hot side obviously. I've installed several different kinds of retrofit systems and this one seems to work best ..never had any complaints...it creates a loop using your exisiting cold water lines via a bleed over valve installed at your furthest fixture from the water heater...good luck

I have done quite a bit of plumbing, it should be down by your hot water tank, It will also look better down by your hot water tank than under your sink. In fact it might not even matter, but if it was up to me I would put it by the hot water tank.

I have one at the problem sink. It circulates the hot water back thru the cold water line. It is thermostaticlly and time controlled. Not worth the effort. but it does raise your electric bill.

You should look into a "demand or tankless water heater" that can be installed to service the problem location.
