Like everyone else, a seed is a seed. Just make sure they are dry before saving any for next year. Or you can just take the dead heads now and scatter the seeds about and a bunch will come up next year.

I had lots of "voluenteers" this year and when they came up, I just replanted them to a better place I wanted it to grown in.

However, one point to mention is that if you bought a "speciality" marigold in a store, you might not get the extact same plant next year from the seed. There is a possibility that the marigold you purchased might have been a hybrid and it might not reporduce the same plant. However, mine all came back this year like the host plant, so I am just mentioning it that it's a possibility.

Marigolds can be planted from the seeds in the dead blooms. You can shake the seeds out and save for next year or I have left the plants until the next spring and then shaken the seeds into the soil. Either way works. Good luck!!!

Seeds are seeds... why not save some money and collect your own. I gather my seeds and store in zip-loc bags but make sure they are dry before you seal the bag. Others I just scatter about now and they all seem to grow.
