Long-term unemployment-
1) Pride- I know men who've gotten laid off from their oh-so prestigious careers, and then go for months or even years without a job... "I just can't find a job..." BS- there's jobs out there, you just think you're too good to take them.

2) Lack of experience or education/training- There's jobs out there that I know I could do, but I don't have "experience" or a degree, so nobody will hire me... at least in those fields.

3) Lack of ambition (laziness)- There are some people who claim to not be able to find a job... and they haven't bothered to go to job service, haven't filled out or submitted applications, haven't called for interviews, etc.

Short term unemployment-
Downsizing...
Outsourcing...
Some become unemployed because they're not a good fit- don't get along, won't follow policy, etc, get themselves fired.

First off, the unemployment rate in our country only counts the people who are actively looking for jobs. Hence the people recieving unemployment or other services that would enable them to be counted. It doesn't count your friend that is always grubbing you for money because they are to lazy to go work. So, reasons for unemployment are based on this definition.
Layoffs, downsizing, merging companies, being fired, going to school, businesses closing, illness

Now I have a friend who is recieving unemployment who I would love to hire part time while he looks for a real job, but this is pointless, because he would make less money...so you could say that this is a reason for unemployment.

Now if you are looking for reasons for not having a job...which is different, you are looking at anything from, lack of qualifications, transportation, need for childcare or expensive childcare, laziness, school, illness, poor work ethic, family problems or family obligations.

Hope that was some helpful brainstorming!

what's extremely inflicting the outrageous unemployment value is that we in simple terms went by this great authentic property bubble, which brought about it to look like there replace into far greater funds than quite existed - there have been thousands and thousands of billions of fictional money tied up in artificially inflated domicile fees. and then the marketplace corrected, and that funds all vanished, and all of us found out "Oh, crap... we've been spending funds that did no longer exist." there is plenty debate, plenty noise, over despite if the U.S. government created an ecosystem wherein that could desire to ensue; despite if or no longer they could desire to have stopped it; despite if or no longer they have been bribed to look any opposite direction; despite if their reactions helped; despite if their reactions have been tantamount to in easy terms further bribery... ...yet on the top of the day, my opinion is, no, the U.S. government did no longer reason the financial disaster. Wall highway did, and the U.S. government did no longer end them from doing it.

If it's in Malaysia - "Job-picky".
They only want jobs of high end.
Eg.: A company can only employ a General Manager, but thousands of people applying for one same pos., Why? "Being a manager means more money, more 'class'..." but if nobody becomes the coolie, then they'll become NO General Manager.
HEHEHE!!!

I wouldnt say it's minimum wage, it depends on where you live, in CA minimum wage is anywhere from $6.75 to $8.50. Other than that, it's online busineses, people dont go out to shop as much as they used to, they just buy stuff online. Which causes more small businesses to close down.
