i want to use my slow dial up connection with my laptop but want to connect with my cell phone when i am not near a land line. Is it possible????

Yes. Many cell phones will let you connect it to either the serial port or the USB port. With a right driver, it will act like a modem.

Keep in mind, your speed will be limited to something like 28.8K max, and more realistically 14.4K'ish.

It is possible, but not very practical.

Yes, you can do it, but it will be quite slow. And you may want to really think about going to GSM and GPRS it's much faster and the tdma/analog network for Cingular will be turned off in 2008.
