It sounds like you have figured out the toughest part of selling products online: getting traffic to your website. There are people who make a lot of money helping people get traffic, because not only does it take a lot of knowledge, but also a lot of work. I would say if you are starting out with a website it's worthwhile to hire a firm to get your site rolling with some traffic. You won't sell much without at least 100 hits per day, and trying to get that with google adwords or advertising will cost a lot of money. Considering how much time and work it will take for you to figure all that stuff out on your own, it might be worthwhile, and more profitable than doing it alone. Think about how many big businesses you are trying to pull traffic from. It's going to take some money. There are no free easy ways to get 100s of hits per day, at least not within the first 6 months. This is why most e-commerce people sell on eBay. They have a huge multimillion dollar add campaign, and the cost of listing items or having an eBay store are really small. I have a website, and I sell on eBay. The website has never brought me a dime, but I sell stuff every week on eBay. In fact, anything you have on hand will sell right away if you list it for a good price.

Starting a business has a big learning curve. You have to be skilled in many areas, and you have to be willing to learn a great deal about how to market your product. Successful business people are all very persistent and hard working. If you don't see a profit after 4 months, don't give up. Eventually you will start raking in the big cash, but you need enough income to live off of while you are building your financial empire.

Yes, it's all confusing and overwhelming.

If you're not sure what to get into, you might consider two things:

a) MLM - Some of the better MLM's have great tools and training to get your business going. They use a tried and tested formula, but the most important thing to remember, is to keep your list of contacts. The contact list is the most important thing you can garner, because you can use it for any other business you start.

or

Both are good sources of income and tools, while the profitmatic has more tools available, the Pro Wealth is easier to use.

b) Ebay stores - Because eBay has a lot of traffic, it's a good bet that you'll get traffic to yours. As for what to sell, can I suggest going to this site: http://www.dhgate.com/index.jsp?CJPID=2126942

It has a large number of items you may be interested in selling.

For further information, try looking through this site: https://ecommbiz.net/Home_Page.html

It has a lot of information about the various methods of marketing, as well as links to the various suppliers.
I hope this all helped, and good luck!

An online business is not different than any other business. Before you begin make a detaile business plan. This should include information on who your market is and how you are planning to reach them. Once you know who they are consider where they may be on the internet and try to get in front of them. Good Luck.

The only things that pay well are either 1) things no one else can do, or 2) things no one else wants to do.

I don't think this one fits their description.

I agree, these are generally scams.

Absolutely; that's cruel and unusual punishment, or assault and battery, or something like that. Certainly they should be shot, and maybe drawn and quartered, just for good measure.
