Stupid Question. Alot of people arent rednecks and alot of the drivers arent rednecks I can tell you that. Alot of them are from California or other places and thats just saying anyone who lives in a certain state is a redneck which is very judgemental and NASCAR is the best sport ever and they dont always turn left for example road courses.. but so what I would like to see you just turn left at 100+mph or even more not that easy.. Racing might have been for rednecks along time ago but its not like that now anyone who has a passion for racing can join if their good enough.

If you even watched Nascar you would realize that half of the drivers are not from the south. A number of them are from California, Tony Stewart is from Indiana, Clint Bowyer is from Kansas, Carl Edwards & Jamie McMurray are from Missouri, Martin Truex Jr is from New Jersey, Paul Menard is from Wisconsin, etc. Some of you really need to leave the "redneck" stereotype in the past...where it belongs because it is good and dried up.
I'm a African-American woman who truly loves this sport and it ticks me off to no end to hear close minded people say things of this nature about this sport. Nascar is not a "redneck" sport, it is a sport that has become diverse over the years. There are drivers and fans from all races, backgrounds, ages, sexes, who love this sport. Nascar is now going to Canada next season and it has been in Mexico for a road-course race since last year!!
Some that NASCAR appeals primarily to toothless “white trash.” WRONG! According to a 2004 survey, about 75% of NASCAR fans have attended college, more than 25% own their own homes and about 36% make more than $50,000 a year. The survey also indicated the sport’s fans are evenly distributed across the country. The Northeast (home to 20% of the nation’s population) accounts for 20% of NASCAR’s fan base. Not surprisingly the largest portion of NASCAR’s fans live in the South (38%) but 35% of the US population lives in the South, so the demographics line up there too. While only 10% of NASCAR’s fans are African-American, the same applies to the NFL, where 11.7% of the fan base is African-American.
For all of those who continue to say that Nascar is just a "redneck" sport where the drivers only turn left, why don't you get in one of the cars, try to drive it and see how it is!

First of all I am a redneck. 2nd of all i am not a NASCAR fan. I think it is boring too but i will defend it because i respect it. Here is my point. The cars are stock cars so that means they are all pretty much the same. So that means every little mistake counts more because you cant just go faster than the other guy and win. Mechanics, pit crew, pit bosses, strategies are all put in place and there is so much more to it than most people realize.

I'm a geek in redneck clothes and I love Nascar, but the reason this came about is I used to race dirt track back I'm my early days for good dirty fun.
You need to go to your local door banger track and find out what it takes to get behind the wheel, make it happen and turn left as fast as you can a few times, Multiply the effect by about 25, then come back and ask your question.

Well, it's kinda like the guy who says he wants to learn to play the guitar. I loan him mine to see if he'll like it and some guys never put it back down and other guys set it down and never pick it back up.
In other words you either "get it" or you don't. If you have to ask then it's probably not for you. There is just something about a "bad" engine and the smell of rubber, fuel and fury that makes it all worth the effort. After you watch a guy race his guts out for years and then he winds up killed in an accident, well he's just part of the family and you grieve for him and his family. But the race goes on, just like in life; Taking no prisoners and asking for no quarter. Racing has been in our blood since we learned how to run. Always faster, harder, farther. Push it to the limits of man and machine.
Go the the next NHRA Nationals event close to you (more Red-Neck stuff except these guys don't even turn) and wait for the Finals in Top Fuel Funny Car and AA/Fuel Dragster. When they switch on the second set of plugs and release the brake on those monsters... well I guess you just have to love racing to appreciate the sport.
The only thing 'stock' on a 'stock car' now is the floor panel. (floorboard) Years ago they raced in 'souped-up' dealer purchased cars. Apparently some of these guys had 'side jobs' doing some fast driving after the sun went down. Hell, go get on a fast go-cart and see if you don't get to breathing hard after you get off. Once it's in your blood....like fishing or hunting. It is it's own reward.

Oh yes the filters that are being used on military vehicles and helocopters in the middle east to keep the tacum find sand out of the motors was developed by NASCAR.not bad for a redneck. The program use to develop the seats in certain military aircraft, developed by NASCAR,not bad for a redneck.

NASCAR is a very corporate sport. It's not just for rednecks anymore. CEO's of high profile companies are sponsors of race teams. and I don't think Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson are rednecks.

Yes. Sometimes the rednecks have to refuel or get their tires changed.
Also you probably could get the most responses by asking if Bush is a good president
