From this list "Tarkenton" is the best.

I would have to say that Roger Staubach would be the best out of those QB's. Peyton Manning would be but Roger has 2 super bowl wins. Roger Staubach was amazing in scrambling, buying time and throwing the ball 45 yards down field to Tony Hill or Drew Pearson. Bart Starr would be close but i never have seen more than one game of his. Steve Young is very overrated because he would throw the ball 5 yards on a slant pattern to Rice and Rice would run 80 yards. The others were good but not great.

Manning's the best right now, and he may be the smartest QB ever, but without a championship i can't say he's the best ever. Although, I'd argue that Marino is one of the best ever but he didn't win either. I think winning championships is crucial. Look at Jim Kelly. He got to the superbowl 4 times in a row, but he never won and he's rarely considered a top QB from the past. From your list, i'd say probably Young, although i think Joe Montana was better. I can't say from experience about the older guys because i never saw them play, but i know they were all amazing in their own right.

Those were all good. Roger Stabuck on your list won some fantastic games as did Joe Montana. Brett Favre deserves mention with his longevity and record setting. We will see what Chicago's Rex will do if they can maintain a protective offensive line. What about Elway and Marino? Bradshaw?

John Elway and Joe Montana are at the top of my list for performing at their very best in the clutch when the game was on the line.

I am surprised that you have Manning up there but you do not have Dan Marino. Your list is very poor and lacks great quarterbacks like Joe Montana and Troy Aikman but out of that list I would have to choose Bart Starr.

Staubach(Stabuck?). If I were any of these guys I would sue you for comparing me with Thiesmann, that's insulting. Is this a trick question? Where's Elway, Montana, Marino, Unitas, Aikman?

From the list I would say Peyton Manning. But as a Steelers fan, I would have to say Ben Roethlisberger.
