Yesterday I saw a diving contest. I found at the bank some fountains kept sending water to the pool. I wonder what it does.

The water is usually very calm and smooth, and the divers have trouble judging their distance to the surface of the water. The fountains squirt water to ripple the surface of the water so the divers can see it better.

I am not really sure I am following what you asking correctly or not. I think what you are asking is why they would have fountains at a place they are diving? It is for aesthetics and for assurance that the water stays at a certain depth. Many have been hurt or killed in diving accidents due to shallow waters. Hope this helps you.

It helps the divers, as they flip & spin in the air to "spot (locate) the water easier before they enter.
