That's much, much worse!!! So, don't excuse what he did away simply because you think it is OK to be gay. Also, I really don't think this should be politicized. Pedophile should be universally condemned regardless of your politics. I am a Republican and I think what he did was abhorent! He preys on kids and, yes, 16 is still a kid. Democrat or Republican, we should condemn this and anyone who knew about it and covered it up, regardless of who it was. We need to protect our kids! What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree? (I forgot that I hadn't asked a question.)

I find the answers that trivialize your question or blow it off as if everyone knows pathetic.
It is refreshing even to see a republican make this point, since so many right-wing conservatives use the terms almost interchangeably - along with bestiality for the far far-out wing-nuts.
It's one thing to argue about BJ Bill, or lying to Congress (as if they are monuments of truthfulness), or Chenney's daughter, but pedophilia is as low as it gets.
Pedophiles are shunned even in prison, where they occupy, literally and figuratively, the bottom position in prison hierarchy.
That they are different things was anything but obvious on today's talk radio shows (I'll pass on on ragging on which SOTA they represent since one side is so dominant).
Savage went so far as to claim that the Foley case 'demonstrates' that homosexuals are pedophiles (I did not hear enough to find out if he meant male and female or just males) but whichever, it only feeds the minds of the ignorant and hateful.
A caller on Rush's show commended Foley for recognizing he has a problem and 'voluntarily' leaving office while he receives treatment. Instead of supporting the caller, even Rush should be up front enough to have pointed out the difference and note that pedophiles never voluntarily seek anything other than more children and are poor risks even when forced into treatment.

I am a Republican and I still think he should be locked up or executed. I think this country has taken far too soft of a stance on sexual predators, and that is why they are growing in numbers. Without sufficient accountability for a person's actions, things only continue to deteriorate..I also agree that this has nothing to do with which political party a person is from...this is just SICK behavior and should be met with unwavering harshness...as far as protecting our kids..we should start doing that by banning abortion!!!

I am a democrat and for once I agree with a repuglican. Damn if the subject wasn't so serious I would puke. But you are absolutly right and it shouldn't really be a repuglican, democrat thing, it should be for the law and court system to figure out.

That's the least to say. I mean, what kind of message would we be sending if we segregate by money when it comes to judging in a court of law. If the message is there is no such thing as being above the law, maybe people of power wouldn't be so quick to do what they do.
