Yes, you can. Although I went to bartending school, I met a lot of bartenders who started out as a bar back or a server. Then, through a promotion, they became a bartender. Sometimes, if you know your stuff...I mean REALLY know lots of drinks, then you could prove to the interviewer that you can do it by pouring a few drinks well.
But, good luck with that. Most bar managers don't hire without experience because liquor is expensive. Pour to lightly and the customer will not be pleased. Pour too heavy, and you're shorting the bar money. For experience, try doing house parties or try catering gigs.

you do not need a license for bartending at beer and wine clubs or bars...you need a license to mix drinks, hard mixed drinks...unless you are brave to take the test with out training you need to go to the school...........and then take the test.....
