Alexander was a Greek and Augustus a Roman. They both achieved remarkable things!
Augustus is the single most important figure in Roman history. In the course of his long and spectacular career, he put an end to the advancing decay of the Republic and established a new basis for Roman government that was to stand for three centuries.
Although he preserved the outward form of the Roman Republic, he ruled as an autocrat(emperor) for more than 40 years, and his rule is the dividing line between the Republic and the Roman Empire. He ended a century of civil wars and gave Rome an era of peace, prosperity, and imperial greatness, known as the Pax Romana, Roman peace.
He defeated Antony and Cleopatra nad ended the Hellenistic era.
The empire expanded under Augustus with his generals subduing Spain, Gaul (now France), Panonia and Dalmatia (now parts of Hungary and Croatia). He annexed most of southwestern Europe up to the Danube River. After his death, the people of the Roman Empire worshipped Augustus as a god.
Alexander was the king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon (Greek or authentic-Macedonia). Alexander (Greek “ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ” (ALEXANDROS) is considered the greatest hero of Greece.
He was the first who managed to unite all the Greek states and build a gigantic Greek Empire which expanded from Greece to India. He was the first person who took the title “Emperor General of Greece”.
He made his small Greek kingdom of Macedon the most powerful Greek state.
He never lost a battle and he is considered a military genius.
He defeated every army he met in battle and most of the times against superior enemies!
He spread Greek language and Greek culture through out the world paving the way to Christianity.
He was considered from the people of the Persian Empire as a liberator and not a conqueror.
He fused Greek culture with Asian Elements forming the culture that was called Hellenistic (from “Hellenic” meaning “Greek”). Because of his campaign, Greek kingdoms ruled the known word for 300 years. ( The Greek rule ended by the Romans).
{Do not confuse the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia or Macedon with the modern state of Makedonija (or FYROM or Slav Macedonia as they are not related at all). The confusion has started a few years ago because that small state started to use the name “Republic of Macedonia” causing a great confusion with real Macedonia in Greece.}
