Never say "Never!" Three months ago when gas was selling locally for over $3.00 I said that the days of $2.00 a gallon were gone for good. It's now down around $1.92 and dropping locally and according to Gas Buddy, as low as $1.83 in MO here.

My bad!

OK, updated prediciton: It will drop until Election Day, and then spring up with a vengance! Doesn't matter who wins, but will be worse if the Reps keep control of both houses of Congress.

Probably not. Why? Because they know we will pay whatever they make it. Why sacrifice profit unless the situation warrants it? Did we buy any less fuel when it was $3.59 a gallon than when it was $2.59? Nope.

We need alternative energy sources.

As for the idiot who referenced the lower prices in Iraq. Uh - they don't have to transport the oil overseas - that's going to cut the price down a ton. After that the difference in price is oil execs and government. But their lines at the pump are way longer, trust me. (having been there.)

Gas prices could fall to a dollar gallon if Congress would get off their can and develop a good energy program. First allow auto makers to put turbine engines into autos and work on the emissions afterward. Next require power plants that use oil and gas to convert to coal. Allow drilling for oil off the east coast of the US, offshore Florida, offshore California and in Alaska. Allow the oil companies to develop and produce the western oil sands. Encourage companies to produce gasoline from coal.
Fluor Daniel built two coal to gasoline conversion plants (SASOL I and SASOL II) in South Africa many years ago when the West put an oil embargo on them for segregation.

No.
Iran just announced that if prices continue to fall they will cut production, putting upward price pressure on oil.

Sure just go to Iraq where it is only 10 cents a gallon that US tax payers are paying for.

(If you need to wonder why people blame Bush for gas prices here it is.)
