Most PS2 online games are free to play online, but some might charge you. But, that's rare. They usually get enough server funding from network adapter and game sales.

I agree with Dash, a good majority of the games for the PS2 concoles are entirely free i.e. Madden, Socom, NBA Live. This Monster Hunter, I never heard about it, but I know it's free because if Madden ( a huge internationally played game ) is free, then this game must be free. All you need is the connection requirments and the game itself, then your pretty much good to go! Peace Holla ~1~
