I believe the economically strong and morally weak have invented religion as a means of extending and keeping their hold on the rest of humanity. All we need do is take an overall look at the history of humankind and with very few exceptions, religion has been there controlling and directing even rulers to do the bidding of the few. The truth is frightening to them, and the truth is quite simple ........they no more have a direct pipeline to the Eternal than I do, only difference is, I can admit to this, while they cannot and will not.

If the strong rule from physical strength in the beggining, becoming heros, then in the next generation, they create religion to protect themselves from the dissatified masses. The children of the strong, not having earned their position in society, do likewise religion, having become weak from nothing. The strong and weak are not everlasting archtypes for eternal socializing.

Was Socrates a strong man, or strong in wisdom. I wonder if Nietzche thought of that. I think Carlin was the more accurate; no bodies perfect.

Religion is a personal, subjective choice. Nietzche and Carlin is neither right nor wrong; the perception of strenght or weakness, when you practice religion, is dependent on the the person who believes.

I've never been a fan for Nietzche or Carlin for that matter. Religion has served well for many thousands of years for bringing order from chaos. I come to that conclusion from the facts available to societies of the past.

first i advice u not to believe every thing philosophers say,
religion came from god to direct humans to the right path, and to a happier life , he created the universe and he knows what is the best for us ,since the creation of adam the forst human being there were so many religions, the last that came from god was islam and it is the last .i don't want to enter into details , but if u are interested see that site :islamguide.com
(nietzche is the one who said the bad phrase : struggle for the fittest) so ....
any way it was my opinion and good luck.

I never thought that Nietzsche or Carlin had the answers. On the contrary I always went by Émile Durkheim (see The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life). Durkheim is of the opinion that religion is basically a social phenomenon, and places great importance on the performative nature of religion. I can see where he is coming from.

Religion exists, there is a God and we don't come here just to "have fun", hate basis of our actuations should be based on not hurt or affect others interests but nobody has a paper signed by God about "the truth", simple common sense is required and yes the "dogma" in religion always is a political interpretation of a group trying to appropriate of the truth and wanting you to do something that, by the way, is in their own profit.

These are opinions. There is no right and wrong in opinions. The universe cannot be simplified in right and wrong. It isn't that easy. We could all be Einsteins if that where the case! Like a fly who sees the world as many fragmented TV screens, we should try to accept and understand that different opinions should all be taken into account in order to complete the magnificent mosaic that is truth - or indeed religion.
