There's water and bubbles all over the floor! I didn't do anything different than I usually do when I use it, why would it do this to me?

If you used dish soap instead of dishwasher soap, it would cause it to bubble all over like that.

Dishwasher Overflowing

You'll just have to dip the water out by hand! Seriously, you should be able to advance the cycle using the control knob to the drain cycle. Let it drain the water that;s already in it, then turn it to the rinse cycle and start it again there. And next time, use a detergent meant for the dishwasher. Ordinary dish soap is deliberately formulated to produce lots of suds because Americans are too friggin' stupid to realize the suds DON'T make any difference as to how good a job the detergent does! We see few suds we think the dishes aren't gonna get clean. We dumb!

Water and bubbles all over the floor indicate to me that you either inadvertently got some dishwashing soap(already on the dishes)in the dishwasher or you are using an old box of dishwasher detergent.

The powdered detergent has a shelf life and if it gets old you loose the suds inhibitors and it will foam up and run over the baffle at the bottom of the dishwasher and onto the floor.

If you do not normally rinse off the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, then food can accumulate in the drain pipe. Most dishwashers don't have a garbage disposal in the bottom of the dishwasher (only newer, more expensive ones). So food can plug the pipe and then the dishwasher will overflow. So first you will have to unplug the line (pipe). Then remember to rinse off the food before you put the dishes in the dishwasher.

If you didn't do anything different, then you drain is stopped up. Look inside at drain some dishwashers have a basket, others just a screen. if this is clean then your problem is the drain line is stopped up were it tye's into your sink. or disposel.

The most common problem is that your strainer or drain hose could be plugged. To never have this problem, scrape your dishes clean in the garbage, rinse them clean in your sink side that has a disposal, then put the dishes in the dishwasher.
