im a 22/m/white. i have an urban style and look. i was an army brat and lived in mostly northern cities. i lived around everyone and didn't really see "race" as civilian ppl see it. i wear baggy jeans-but they dont be saggin, tims, j's, have a fade haircut, and have diamonds in my ears. for some reason white girls seem to have a kinda negative reaction to me. they seem to be acting cautious or nervous. with blacks and latinas i dont have the same issues. i'm not gangsta though. i'm a psych sr in college. im going to be a juve delinq counselor. i work 40 hrs a week. i don't get it. im a cool guy who loves to clown around n gets along with everyone. but like when i just try and talk to them at school they have this bad reaction. its like they got something against me. its like they judge me from the onset. i just don't understand. why this is?

they probably think that you are a wangsta or just a redneck white trash....something like Kevin Federline....i would not even worry about it...if someone cant accept you for who you are, they arent good enought for you!!!

There are a lot of questionable people out there nowadays, and us girls sometimes have to be a bit more cautious. THe way you're dressing now seems to be holding you back, because it projects either insecurity or the sensibilities of a real ghetto wanna-be. I'm not telling you to change your entire look, but you're obviously a growing professional. You should dress like it, and let your sensitive academic side show through more often! Try dressing in a denim jacket over a nice pair of slacks every once in a while. Jazz it up with some bling of your own. You can still be you, but look much more clean and pulled together. I'm sure girls of all ethnicities would love that. Good Luck! :)

If I saw you, I'd be like "yeah, baby!" Oh, but wait a minute... I'm Hispanic, so that doesn't really solve anything, now does it? Sorry. Well, maybe they are scared because you don't do the "white boy" thing. You do your own thing. I live in the southwest, and everyone I know is kinda like that, so it doesn't really bother anyone when a "white boy" dresses cool like that.
(Not trying to be racist by saying white boy. Trust me, I don't care about that stuff).
I think you'll run into someone who likes the urban look rather than the emo, metrosexual, skater, or whatever look. Til then, just be yourself, and be TRUE to yourself.

maybe some girls think you are a white guy trying to be black or maybe you look like a player. I don't know, i've never met you. its hard to guess what people think of you w/out knowing you.
But i really don't like that style on an race. Once you graduate college, at least in my experience, you go for the more mature dressed guys....no more tims
