I would suggest using miniture indoor/outdoor lights. They don't get hot like the larger outdoor lights would.

Yes, It can happen .

Before wrapping your grapevine with the lights, check for a tag that says UL on it. That mean it passes basic safety standards. Then inspect your lights for any frayed or broken spots. If you find any, throw the cord out, it's not worth the risk. If you are hanging the lights outside, make sure your lights are rated for outdoor use. Check the plug end, if the plug is broken don't use it. Finally make sure the plug fits securely in the outlet. Don't file down the plugs to fit. If your old outlet won't fit new plugs, have the outlet replaced.

outdoor christmas lights don't get that hot, and if they do it's probably not enough to set your grapevine on fire. just keep a close eye on it, and don't leave it on for all hours of the day. if the lights came with instructions or warnings, read them.

The old-style Christmas lights were hot enought to ignite anything.

The newer-style lights still have either 100 VAC or 12 VDC running thru them, but at least the light bulbs don't run hot.

It wouldn't be my first choice, but the chances of a fire are probably remote. Probably.

that's no longer stupid. generally that's fantastically for christmas time, and in the event that they don't have a easy for the stairs, utilising white/sparkling bulbs works 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around to easy up the place you're strolling at night. what's stupid is you dropping time with this question.

There is always a fire hazard, that is why we have the fire stations. Will it catch on fire? I doubt it! Especially, if, after you wrap it and turn them on , you move the bulbs so they are not touching the vine.

Those minature x-mas lights don't get hot, I use those when I don't want to worry about fires and they look very pretty.
