The sound card would be the card that has the audio connectors on the back of it. But then again, you might not really have a sound "card" because it might be built into the motherboard. But even if it is, you can still add another sound card. It could just be a driver problem and not actually something wrong with the sound card. It could also be a loose connection at the plug.

Oh, and yes, 384 Mb of RAM is most likely a 256 and a 128 although I guess it could be (3) 128's. You just have to look and see if you have any free RAM slots. Obviously, the RAM from the other computer would have to be the same kind (PC100, PC133, DDR 400, whatever) for it to work.

Open the casing and see where the speakers plug goes in. If it is a card (in both of them) you can switch them (remember to install drivers if needed).
However some motherboards are sold with sound cards 'on board' i.e. they are built into the motherboard. If the damaged one is on-board you can disable it and insert card (from the spare PC or a new one) instead of it (again, remember driver if needed).

Most modern computers have the sound "built in", but you can by-pass that by installing a PCI card --- which will come with a software driver. Try a search for sound cards at www.tigerdirect.com

be marked with Audio,Microphone and you
should use the computer book.

might be plugged into one of the PCI slots but more likely it's integrated into the motherboard and can't be removed
