Another day. Another liberal LIE.

You can't possibly be serious and you certainly didn't hear this on CNN. Quit smoking dope and go back to class, you might learn something.

For the moment we'll leave aside the fact that Presidents don't 'pass laws.' Assume for purposes of discussion that President Bush really does want a third term. The terms of the President are not defined by just any law but by this little thing we call the Constitution. And to change the Constitution, you have to do the following:

1) First you have to get Congress to propose an Amendment. This requires *each* house of Congess to agree; and not by a regular majority, nosiree, you need 2/3 of each house to vote for it. This alone would stop the process in its tracks, because no 67 Senators are going to agree on giving Georgie another run. But, suppose they do...

2) Then, the proposed Amendment has to be approved by 3/4 of the individual State Legislatures. That's 38 states, for those of you who may be lazy with math. Are there more than 12 states that might not want to see a 3rd Bush term? I think there are. But again, allowing that there might not be...

3) Due to certain peculiarities of scheduling (I think it's called election season), Congress could not get around to the first step until next January at the earliest. Some state legislatures would not have the opportunity to consider and vote on the proposal until considerably later in the year. The net effect of these delays is that ratification, *at the earliest* would not take place until about August of 2007. Unless specifically expedited, the Amendment would not take effect until 2008 due to various federal regulations, at which point under election laws it would not be applicable to the current election.

In other words: a) it's not in the works, b) it would never be approved anyway, and c) it can't be applied to the 2008 election even if it did pass. Come January 20, 2009 we will have a new President; who that will be, your guess is as good as mine.

Point 1: The President does not pass laws, Congress does.
Point 2: It would not be a law that would allow him to run for a 3rd term, it would be a Constitutional amendment.
Point 3: A Constitutional amendment requires a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress to pass. In neither the House nor the Senate does the Republican Party have that majority.
Point 4: Even if Congress passed such an amendment, it would need to be approved by 3/4 of the state legislatures (38 of them) prior to the '08 election cycle. Again, there are not that many state legislatures controlled by the GOP.

Conclusion: Ain't gonna happen.

Let me ask this will you or anyone else just sit here and allow him to pass such a thing or will you rise up and fight.

Not only that passing a law to allow for him to run would mean he would have to know for certain he would get elected in again. So if certainty is of his mind set, therefore there would be no logic to him even passing a law to allow for him to do this but instead he could self appoint himself as ruler.

Does anyone think that it would be allowed?

I am not a religious freak but the bible speaks of things of the sort.

Why not, has he won an election on votes yet? Just think if the ludicrous 2 terms law hadn't been in place the US and the World's economy could have had Clinton for years more.

Yeah, sure! Might I point out to you enlightened ones that a President can't pass any laws. Didn't you learn that in civics class? The only President ever to run for a third, and even a fourth term, was....let me see...A DEMOCRAT!!! After him, we actually DID pass a law preventing it from happening again. (And to think I was going to answer: Alright! I'd vote for him again just to piss you people off!)

Although Bush has proven by his actions that he thinks he's above any law, the 22nd Amendment has to changed for this to happen.

I believe he'd pass a law making him a dictator, more than just letting him to serve four more years.

Please tell me that you really don't believe that a president can make a law, vote on it, and sign it. Are schools and the media so full of liberals that they actually say stuff like this. It is just another liberal scare tactic.
