Find a young, female gynecologist to see your teenage daughters so that they don't feel so frightened. Let them meet and talk to the gynecologist before they jump right into the examination. If you can, call your pediatrician and ask if they happen to know of any such gynecologists who deal regularly with teenagers - this will help you to find someone who is sensitive to the fears and concerns of your daughters.
You should take both of your daughters to the same doctor on the same day, so that they can be one another's moral support. If you can make an appointment for all three of you, even better. Just make sure you go last, so that you can be there in the waiting room with them while they wait.
If your daughter is having her period twice a month, that can't be good. Even if it's nothing serious - she's still losing a lot of blood and iron. You don't want to risk having her become anemic, or developing Endometriosis, a condition where overly frequent or overly heavy periods cause scar tissue to develop that can lead to reproductive problems or even sterility.

Most say either 18 or when a girl becomes sexually active. However since you say your daughter is having two periods a month I'd encourage you to take her soon. She may be suffering from either fibroids or endometriosis. While rare it can happen in women who are as young as your daughter. I'd ask if she prefers a woman doctor, that may alleviate some of her anxiety. And her doctor should take time to explain what she is going to do prior to the exam that way your daughter will feel like she has some control over what's happening to her. Good luck.

They should go as soon as they become sexualy active. I started going at 16. Also if your daughter is having unregular periods she should defintly be seen. Sit them down and discuss it with them. If it makes them more comfortable go in there with them. My mom went in with me the first couple of time until i got comfortable with it. Assure them that it doesn't hurt, it's just a little uncomfortable and it's ok to be nervous. But it will help to determine cancers and make sure they stay healthy and can get on some sort of birth control. Just don't lie, tell them the truth of what happens and answer any questions they have.

I personally think that once a girls about the same age as ur girls would be a good idea as my doctor tells me its important to get a pap smear done even if your not sexually active which means once u start mensturating.
Its important to explain to your girls about the importance of going to a gynec and the its important for your peace of mind and theirs as well and this is just a general kind of thing so they are not freaked out about the visit.
I had problems with my periods when i was young and never bothered to go and have it checked....therefore i have suffered with a hormonal imbalance leading to pimples, excess facial hair and other side effects of a hormone imbalance problem...may be u should tell them this.....
Good luck!!

Tell her that there is nothing to feel ashamed of and that it is normal to experience periods. it is a part of every woman's life.
the gynac will just inspect her & nothing else. your daughter might be thinking in terms of operations or other procedures which will be used upon her. tell her there is nothing to worry about.
if problem persists go to a well known gynaecologist & discuss your problem. they can render much better advice.

They should start going once theyve gotten their period. I would just tell her its only a little uncomfortable, but she should go cuz all women do, and its so you can make sure everything is healthy in that area. Id also tell her how easy it is for us women to get sick in that area and we need regular check ups.

that's what im going to say, when their pediatrician or ur primary physician suggest that they go because they need to...if there are no problems, they can start going when they are 18.... and reading materials can help ur teens understand the importance of these gyne visits....
