(For women only!)... when having a bowel movement with heavy cramps? I have (and do!) and it helps! I even do the "effleurage on my belly...no kidding (pardon the pun)!!!

In your nose and out your mouth... After I had my son, I realized that breathing this way really DOES help with pain! So yes, any time I'm in a lot of pain, especially the kind associated with abdominal cramping I instantly revert back to that breathing style. You're not alone!

I use it when I'm under stresss, it does calm me down. Thanks for the tip. What is effleurage. It's been several years since I went through Lamaze so I forget what that is.

It works for some people, but not for all. I tried it but it did nothing to help the labor pains.
I'm glad it works for you and your cramps. You're lucky.

breathing through any pain is good. I know that feeling, I've had two boys AND im lactose intolerant! LOL

uh. i've never had that kind of pain. maybe you should try a mild stool softener instead.
