The Republicans have always been for big business, and the Democrats have always been for the working class and the underpriveledged. The jobless would be among the underpriveledged, or they are fighting in Iraq because they couldn't get decent paying jobs here in America. The facts are that most of the jobs in America these days pay just enough to enable the worker to pay rent or buy groceries, not both. This is why both husband and wife must work these days, and this is also why so many children go unattended and run the streets in gangs.
By the way, it was a terrible for Julia to link her question to your question. That is harrassment, and is reportable as such..

Have you had a lobotomy? They want employment for all. Do you understand how many people have lost their jobs because of outsourcing? Do you know that companies are now firing people with the longest amount of experience so that they can replace them with people who will get lower salaries? Every family I know has one person or more who has lost a job because of these unfair practices. The next time you talk to someone in India about your computer or one of your appliances, think about the fact that that used to be a job held by an American. The next time you look at a label in your clothes, remember that clothing used to be made in America. Perhaps it is a waste of time to try to educate people like you about the employment situation.

Because many people are jobless for no fault of their own and need a bit of help keeping afloat till they can find employment somewhere else. It seems to me to be the compassionate thing to do.

Because there aren't enough jobs to go around. Many working class today are "working poor" and can't make it even with a job.
