Funny how in Australia we have strong gun laws and I never hear of any school shootings but I have heard of two horrible school shootings in America just in the past few weeks... Yes, criminals will still be able to get their hands on guns no matter what the laws are - but at least it would stop kids being able to just go out to the garage, take a gun to school and kill another kid just because they get teased at school or something.

Are you the same people saying the Republicans are trying to destroy the Constitution?
Before you talk about disarming law abiding citizens, check out what Hitler did in Germany.
Check the crime rates with firearms in states that have concealed carry and those that don't.
Oak Brook ,IL passed a law outlawing firearms.
The town of Kennesaw, GA passed an ordinance that all citizens should own a firearm. At the fair every year when you pay admission to get in , you get a box of ammo for your favorite gun.
Guess which town has the lowest crime rate? Or, a more personal question: If you were going to break into a home, where would you do it, Oak Park or Kennesaw?
Here are the stats for children's deaths in the US. It will be interesting reading only for those who favor common sense over gun control. (As an aside, Gun control means being able to hit what you aim at.)
Firearms are involved in 1% of all deaths, and 1% of all deaths among children. Deaths involving firearms have decreased 24% since 1993.
Firearms are involved in 0.65% of accidental deaths nationally, and in 1% among children. Most accidental deaths involve, or are due to, motor vehicles (40%), poisoning (17%), falls (15%), suffocation (5%), drowning (3%), fires (3%), medical mistakes (2%), environmental factors (1%), and bicycles and tricycles (1%). Among children: motor vehicles (45%), suffocation (16%), drowning (15%), fires (9%), bicycles and tricycles (2%), poisoning (2%), falls (2%), environmental factors (2%), and medical mistakes (1%).
Since 40 times more people are killed by autos than guns, let's outlaw automobiles.

I think this says more about american kids than guns. Guns are available all over the world but this doesn't happen anywhere else, well it's rare. What the people need to do is give up the 'blame everyone else' mentality. These shooters are kids that blame everyone else because things are not going so well. And they are fed the lie that school years are the best of your life, so they think if this is it the rest must be total hell. Americans have a real "sue everyone" reputation that needs to be seriously addressed.

You dumba ssed people! You do not have clue! There are over 88,000 words of gun laws on the books about firearms in the US and it's territories and very few are enforced. Instead of controlling firearms they should stop letting criminals out on parole to menace society and cause more havoc. Go to Kennesaw GA where nearly everyone over 18 has a firearm in their home and notice how low crime is. Put tougher sentences on criminals not law abiding gun owners.

Spoken like a good communist! Just kidding, partially. Without sounding too unsympathetic I would say that many more people are killed each year by cars, alcohol, drugs, and claw hammers than firearms. Your reasoning is circular and very weak. The founding fathers fought hard to ensure the ability to keep firearms for protection of home and country. Disarm yourself and you will be a victim. Arm yourself responsibly and you may save a life. Possibly yours or a family member.

That wont work. Its nice to think about, but will make things worse. Just hear me out, ive thought about this. People will still find a way to get guns. So if you take the guns away from the good people, the bad people will still get guns and therefore the good people are defenseless and the bad guys are armed. Drugs are illegal yet people still get them. Besides it will be more of a challenge and therefore more fun for them to get guns. My family owns guns and I know exactly where they are. If someone were to break in and threaten me I could run up to the spot, aim at them, and shoot. I know how to shoot one to where I can injure him and make him defenseless or even kill if I need to (if there is nothing else I can do of course). I think having guns and knowing how to use them but staying safe is better then leaving the innocent people without defense.

Indeed, and if you can't shoot back, your done.
Japan discovered guns, discovered that a simple, untrained peasant would take out a powerful lifetime trained warrior. Japan banned guns for many years, pretended it had never been invented. Guess what. Didn't work or solve a damn thing.
Just stay in mommies basement the rest of your life, no big bad gun will find you.

so you are saying that guns kill. it requires someone with their hand on the trigger to take the gun from an innocent piece of metal to something that kills. should knives be outlawed? they are capable of killing! of course then again it requires that it be in someones hand to do so. i'm sure you kept knives in your kitchen when your children were little. did you keep them locked up or did you teach your children the responsibility of using a knife? its not the fault of the guns that causes deaths, it the lack of parental teaching. my children were shooting guns at a young age, with correct responsible teaching. they knew what a gun was capable of doing, just like they knew what the kitchen knife was capable of doing. a rubber band and a paper clip can be a lethal weapon in the hands of someone with malicious intent. gun control isnt the answer, parental responsibility is.

getting rid of guns is not the answer. ones own hands can be a deadly weapon are we going to outlaw hands too? How about education? I grew up around guns and I was taught well. I never shot myself or anyone else. And yes I do belong to the N R A.

If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have guns. What then? By the way, have you ever been attacked in a dark parking lot? No? I never travel unarmed. Good heavens. People die in cars. Let's make them illegal too, while you're at it. It's irresponsible of you to preach about something you have never had any experience with.
