im a 22/m/white. i have an urban style and look. i was an army brat and lived in mostly northern cities. i lived around everyone and didn't really see "race" as civilian ppl see it. i wear baggy jeans-but they dont be saggin, tims, j's, have a fade haircut, and have diamonds in my ears. for some reason white girls seem to have a kinda negative reaction to me. they seem to be acting cautious or nervous. i'm not gangsta though. i'm a psych sr in college. im going to be a juve delinq counselor. i work 40 hrs a week. i don't get it. im a cool guy who loves to clown around n gets along with everyone. but like when i just try and talk to them at school they have this bad reaction. its like they got something against me. its like they judge me from the onset. i just don't understand. why this is?

First impressions are hard to overcome. You have a definite style that is sending a lot of messages to people. If you wish to be accepted by ordinary civilian girls, you need to tone down your appearance and look like a more boring - and safe - kinda guy. You are showing a masculine image that is too strong to be considered 'safe' by the girls you want to meet.
Tone it down. Clean it up. When you go on a serious date, simplify toward the point where you would be dressed like a guy who could go to an interview for a counseling position and be hired. The same 'unsafe' message that you are sending to the girls will also be picked up when you interview for a job, making it difficult for the Human Resources interviewer to hire you.
From boisestate.edu:
... You need to think seriously about the image that you want to portray; most importantly one that suggests you want to fit in and not stand out in a manner that might represent extreme individualism. Moderation in dress is most always the key for the professional interview. You want to appear confident, conservative, reliable, and polished. The way you dress can greatly enhance your portrayal of these qualities. Your clothing should appear as a natural extension of you, tailored to help you present a positive image.
Do you project a conservative, positive image in your day to day 'look?'
;-D Maybe if you want to join a band, you are dressed appropriately.

Im a girl. I might act the same way too. Its just the way you dress, that makes girls nervous. I know I dont really like to talk to guys that dress good and look al gangsta even if they are white. Because most of them that I knew were players. So yes its all about your vibe also. Maybe you should try laying low and not talking to the girls because then you can make them come to you.

there are extremely some questionable human beings obtainable those days, and us females often times could be somewhat better careful. the way you're dressing now looks preserving you again, because it initiatives both lack of self belief or the sensibilities of a authentic ghetto wanna-be. i'm no longer telling you to modify the total look, yet you're of direction a starting to be specialist. you ought to gown like it, and enable your smooth tutorial aspect teach by better regularly! attempt dressing in a denim jacket over an wonderful pair of slacks each once later on. Jazz it up with some bling of your own. you'd be you, yet look significantly better sparkling and pulled together. i'm confident females of all ethnicities would love that. good success! :)

If you dress like a gangster, expect to be treated like one. There's a difference between a cool look and a gangster look. Cool would be: wear name brand clothes, chain is ok, nothing too baggy, get a tan, pick a hair style, and lose the earrings. You can still look good and not appear to be a criminal.

You dress like a ghetto thug, but you can't understand why the girls "judge" you. You don't understand because you can't understand. Understand?

They can tell from your attitude and appearance that you are best avoided.
If you choose to be that way, don't be surprised at the reactions.
