'Save As' allows you to choose save destination, and file name.

'Save' overwrites the open file where the save destination, and file name have already been selected.

Save saves the file with the existing name and in the same location. Save as lets you change the name of the file and choose a new location.

when you choose "save" in most applications

it saves the file with the current name which is
the name you have already assigned it or some sort of "default" name that the application (program assigned it)

choosing "save as" allows you to choose a name or a different name for the file when the program saves the file

sometimes you may want to save the file you are working on, but also keep the previously saved unmodified file, so you can "save as" and the program allows you to choose a different name or location for the file to be saved as

Wow, easy 2 points. Conservatives approved of the Bush agenda because he was one of them. They didn't care about his version of "social justice" (by helping the poor), because it fed the market bubble that he will always be known for. They didn't care about the increased debt for the wars, or Medicare, or NCLB, because Cheney said that "Deficits don't matter". Conservatives have whip-lashed so far to the right that they now believe that the EPA shouldn't enforce environmental regulations on private companies. They don't believe that the disabled on Medicaid deserve funding. They want to privatize Medicare and let old people pay for their own prescriptions, instead of what their own Medicare Part D calls for. The Republican party is so extreme these days that it's no wonder why the majority of "regular" people don't agree with them. November 2012 should be interesting.

"Save" simply appends/changes the document you have been working on. "Save as" is essentially an offer to save a copy.

Let's say you wrote a great cover letter to potential employer X a while ago. Now you want to create another cover letter, for employer Y, but you don't want to mess up the first letter. Do a save as, and now you have two cover letters.

'save' and 'save as' are the same if you accesed the file from the menu/ program the first time. After you have established the file's location, 'save' will auto-save' your file when you click on it. 'save as' will allow you to set a new location for this new document.

"Save as" is typically used when you want to give the file a new name. "Save" is used when you've finished a document or made changes and simply want to save the document under the existing filename.
