they are contagious
but if you stick your fingers in your ears, cross your eyes and chant 'oooma oooma oooma' you won't yawn....thats the trick!

For no good reason, there are times when someone else yawning doesn't affect me at all. Other times, though, if I see the dog yawn I'm right behind her.

It is truly one of life's biggest mysteries. Why can't we figure out a way to make the same thing happen when you see someone exercise? I can't get myself to do that at all but if it were the same as yawning, all I would have to do is see someone else doing it and I would have to do it, too. Hmmm...

lol i yawned from reading this question.
But i dont think you can keep from yawning when you see someone else yawn. Ive tried some many times.

yes sometimes the person that's yawning is tired and i'm not so that keeps me from yawning

Yes I can. I'm not sure how, I guess if I get enough rest I don't yawn as much.

Sure it is. When you see someone yawn, stab yourself in the neck with a No.2 pencil. Lol. I agree with you, and it's one those annoying things. LOL.

I have tried and failed. I found I look really silly holding it back. So I will yawn and get it rolling, just so I won't have to hold back. Good question!!

nope- I just yawned reading this question...I even yawn if I see an animal yawn (like my cats)... its so weird!
