I mean that you might get a disease or anything

Just make sure they are washed. I work at a foot doctor office and one suggestion is: don't buy shoes at garage sales. Many people, especially older people have toenail fungus. You cannot get rid of nail fungus. If you wear someone's shoes who has or had fungus, there is a very strong possibility that you could get it too. It is advised that anyone who has foot or toenail fungus throw away their shoes, don't try to give them away or sell them. But the clothes, I would think they are fine as long as they are washed properly.

I suspose you could pick up a skin condition. To avoid problems always wash and dry or dry clean clothes before wearing. I am quite sensitive to the starch in new clothes so I always wash anything that I would have next to my skin before wearing. I love yard sale finds!!!

No, not if you wash them before you use them. I get most of my clothes from Goodwill or someplace like that. I like getting clothes that have been pre-worn because they're already broken in, and you know how well they hold up. It drives me crazy buying something new and then having it fall apart in the wash the first time I wash it. Besides, it's cheaper.

For crying out loud, wash them first. That's a no-brainer.
