I am in the sixth grade-- and I am 5'7''! As for my grade, I am taller than all of the boys and girls. In the two higher grades it is still rare to find someone close to my height. I have been searching around and I found that a bunch of people said that they prefer shorter girls. I know, I shouldn't care about this but I am not used to standing out, I am very shy. I hate it when ppl make fun of me being tall...it just destroys your confidence. I don't have any idea how to make myself feel better about this, especially because all of my friends are short and I'm afraid I'll never stop growing. =(

Well I suppose it is different for a young girl. When I was in Jr. High I was the second shortest boy in my class, and as a result I got picked on a good bit. As fate would have it, by the time I reached 19 I was 6'6"
Yes, when you are very tall, like it or not, many people in the room turn to look when you enter. I've gone into restaurants where people facing me would not so subtlely get the attention of table mates facing away and get them to turn around just to add the the number of stares that already seemed pretty numerous to me. After awhile you get used to it. Moreover, as I got older my height became less rare, and sometimes I see people even taller walking down the street.
Still I won't concede that it is a matter of destroying self-confidence. I've heard all of the jokes. "How's the weather up there?" "I guess the game won't start until the other four guys show up." But you know what I've found? Some people have to work very hard in their lives to get noticed. All I have to do is walk in a room. Earned or not, studies show that tall people often get better jobs, more promotions, etc.
Even if its not so, one benefit that became quite obvious is that since I got to this size very few people have ever had the nerve to try thumping on me. It's kind of peaceful up here.
Enjoy your height Miss. Soon enough we will be aged and bent and not able to stand tall.

Girls who are short want to be tall, and girls who are tall want to be short... I myself am 5'8" and I am taller then most girls. I have struggled with similar issues. Just be proud of yourself and keep in shape, do you know that most models are over 5'10"?! This is not a bad thing and 6th grade can be cruel (I remember) Just know that things get better (within the next 2 years) people get nicer and they will catch up to you in height! Dont be ashamed be proud and nobody can feel empowered by putting YOU down and they will move onto the next person to pick on. They might sense your insecurity. You are going to be alright, I promise! ... : )

hell no. being tall is a privilege, if you haven't found out just yet, wait a couple years and you will see. Never slouch or be embarassed by your height, the only people who make fun of you are the people who are jealous of your height. Make the most of it, walk tall (so to say!) and people who say they prefer shorter girls aren't worth being with at all if they judge people by their physical appearances.

Most supermodels are over 6 feet tall. Don't worry soon enough there will be guys much taller than you. You will stop growing soon enough. Girls who used to be much taller than me in elementary school are now several inches shorter than me, and I am not that tall myself.

No being tall isn't a bad thing but I'm to short for my age and my boyfriend is a foot taller than me.

thats great that your tall, as u get older people will get jealous bc alot of people wanna be tall. most likely ull stop growing though and your friends will catch up. ur just growing at an early rate wich is fine. im 5'6 and im 14 but when i was ur age alkmost all my friends were shorter then me. so its ok just give it time =]

Hey!! I no exactly wat your goin through! I am tall and im taller than a lot of guys and gurls in my grade and other grades!!! And its ok because that means that your good with sports and you no what wen you get older the guys will have growth spurts and you wont feel like a giant!! Believe Me
