Leaving would be a good start. Let them solve their own problems. I'm sure Europe would chip in and help with some reconstruction aid.

We may have missed the boat completely on this one.

The real answer is that we should have never gone there in the first place. But that's water over the dam.

If the US keeps troops there, the insurgency will only get worse, as we have now become the focal point of hatred. Recent surveys indicate that even the Iraqis, themselves, want us out. A majority of them dislike us so much that they now support the insurgents who kill our troops. They just plain want us out - no ifs, ands or buts.

Our brain dead president can't admit he was dishonest and will keep our troops there until the bitter end. He will dump his problem on the next president, who will have to repair the damage he created.

Pulling our troops out will not solve the problem, by the way. While our departure will quell much of the hatred focused on us on the part of the Iraqis, it will leave the door open to the kind of political nightmare that now exists in Somalia. If you don't know much about Somalia, suggest you read up on it, as that is where Iraq is headed.

What will happen next is that a an even more deadly and bloody civil war will develop in Iraq, fueled, in part, by Iran and Syria. The government of Iraq will eventually collapse and we will have to send troops in once more. More insurgents will follow us in and all hell will break loose. In the meantime, Iran will be developing its nuclear capability. Concurrently, Pakistan and Afghanistan will be sliding in chaos. Pakistan, by the way, has nuclear capability - imagine that falling into the wrong hands.

All of this is happening due to one man - GWB, Jr - he may have set the wheels in motion for our eventual destruction.

Its too late,, They should have kept the Iraqi army and just flushed anyone with blood on their hands.. They could pay the Iraqi army for 200 years and still come out less then has been spent there. Now you just have to send more troops I think. doubling the force would not be a dumb move, but I think that would be like admitting that they screwed up royally. Also play the same game as the enemy. Why was Saddam Hussein able to keep them so passive but the US has a freaking war zone?

Ever think maybe he was so brutal because maybe he had to be to have stability ?

I am sad to say i do not have an answer to this q. but getting out of there and leaving it to be is a good start from american point of view. You said "peace in Iraq again." So you liked Saddam, the goat herder, the beheader, the savage poisoner of people, the torturer, the palace builder where he and his cohorts lived in the lap of luxury while the people starved? Uh-huh, I see where you're coming from.

I agree to put Saddam back in power. The animals there seem to need a murderous strong-armed dictator to keep peace. Not everyone can be lead to civilization.

Put Saddam back in power!

Serously, we aren't going to settle it! They will sooner or later after a civil war we started is over! That's why we need to be out! We are where we are not wanted, nor do we belong!
