They require an acidic fertilizer. If you want a fast-working (but only lasts 7-10 days) use Miracid. Do not mix stronger than recommended. If you like organic fertilizers use Holly*Tone by Espoma. It lasts 6 weeks.
There are also time release fertilizers like Osmocote for acid plants that lasts 4 months. I recommend the Holly*Tone. It's a great fert. for any acid plants. Finally, don't try to push the NF Pine too fast. Too rapid growth can lead to weak trunk and branches. Just follow the directions.

A Norfolk Pine will only grow so much a year, but to speed up a slow growing tree, it not only needs food, but also light. If you could, place a regular light bulb (100 watts) over the tree. Feed it with Miracle Gro or Peters 20-20-20. Water it thoroughly and when the soil is dry about 2" down in the pot, water. It needs to be in a big tall pot with plenty of good potting mix. I use Miracle Gro potting mix. I'm assuming your tree is indoors? Only feed it about once a month and water at least every five days. You may want to go to Wal*Mart and get a moisture meter. They cost under $5.00 and well worth the price. Don't ever let it dry out completely because you will lose the lower branches. Also, they love to be misted every day. Oh! Keep the light on about 10-12 hours daily.
