A friend of mine (name disclosed) is currently a junior ranked 531 out of 688 students. He is taking AP Bio and is failing that class and wants to drop it but too bad he can't add a class so he might take a study hall. He' sa good student and works hard but can't get his grades up. Last year he brought his grades from Cs and Ds to Bs and some Cs (he said he had a bad teacher and I dont blame him). He is an Eagle scout and particpated in football and is in track as of now. He asked me the other day wheter he has a good chance of getting into Texas A&M University in college station (They have a 70% acceptance rate). I told him i'll ask people so I post this queston to you Plz help my friend out 9I just give him moral support, can you give me some facts that might be to his advantage.)

thanks!

Well, he can try, but I would keep my options open. Sometimes kids will go to a community college for a couple years to get their GPA up and then transfer to a university that they really want to go to.

Try a foundation year program for the university IF AND ONLY IF THEY HAVE ANY AVAILABLE. if they don't have any, choose the first answer as your best answer.
Pros:
it takes half a year, if you do well, you will get seen by the university and get into the college that you like.
Cons:
you have to be held back half a year because sometimes the foundation year is on awkward days.

Advise for your friend: do not give up hope. There will be options available if you work hard. These are oppotunities that are not hand fed to you but you need to discover yourself. Don't box yourself in.
