Not a good time for Steve and Terri Irwin.as suggested.
Why not go as grandparents? ( old grandparents)....One can use a cane, the other can use a walker.....One can be real grouchy while the other is real sweet...
Anything goes with the clothing......wear your man pants real high
and too short where your socks show....wear a shirt and a sweater................Grandma can wear a dress that comes to her calves with her slip showing....and she would have to have Knee Hi's on that everyone sees........Granny glasses(big), wear an apron on the dress and a sweater......Have fun (no gym shoes with this outfit) And none of the clothing matches! Be even funnier if the guy dresses like grandma, and visa/versa.

Adam and Eve.
Salt and Pepper. (use boxes)
Bonnie and Clyde.
Fred and Wilma Flintstone.
all of these costumes would be easy and cheap to make.
