Oh, I remember those titles, they are from Edgar Allan Poe.
I never read "The Cask of Amontillado," but I did read selections from "The Black Cat" and "The Telltale Heart."

* They both involved a pointless murder:
The Telltale Heart - the man kills the old man because of his 'evil' eyeball
The Black Cat - the man kills the cat of his wife, I'm not sure but it was pointless.

I love his work. They are all by Edgar Allan Poe. Does that help? They also use suspense, fear, and death in the writing. I suggest you read these stories. They are awesome!!
