I heard some recent developments put the String Theory into question. I was wondering if anyone else has heard about this.

You're asking this question too soon. So far, no one has formulated a complete string theory. As far as I know, none of the proponents of its various versions are satisfied with what they have so far. On the other hand, most of the people working in the field feel fairly comfortable with the idea that something like a string theory will be a useful mathematical basis for representing physics at a more fundamental level than anything else they can think of. But I don't know what recent development you're talking about.

No.It's one of those theories that can't be proved, you can only for evidence in favor or not in favor of it.
