go into your start button, all programs, go to accessories, go to system tools then to system restore... you can do a restore on your computer from a previous day. If that doesn't work, do a defrag.... go into control panel, performance and maintenance go to free up space on hard disk and/or rearrange items on hard disk to make programs run faster... all of the above seem to work for me
hope it helps

Delete cookies, temp internet files, history. Do disk cleanup and defrag.

Click start > control panel > internet options. General tab and delete items above one at a time.

Start > programs > accessories > system tools > disk cleanup. Check everything and run (be patient). When finished, same steps and run defrag (could take a few hours.)

When all of the above is finished, run a current antivirus scan and antispyware scan.

Check for spyware/adaware stuff...those are usually the first stops...also "Ctrl+Alt+Del" will get you to task manager...click the performance tab and make sure those lines are not pegged to the max. It almost sounds like a stick of you RAM memory has gone bad (if it has the "Page-File Usage History" graph on the performance tab will be way up)...other than that have you noticed any changes in system temperature (ie. system seems hotter than usual)...that can kill you...especially if you may have a bad CPU fan.

i think 54 MBps is just your wireless network connection. usually in DSL it will not show your internet speed. The speed shown on the 2 monitors icon is just your network speed that your computer is sitting on. Encountering this problem just means that your wireless router has got some problem. Maybe reset it and it may work again.

Check for spyware. Run both Ad-aware Personal http://lavasoft.com and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html) to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections. All three programs are free.

5400 or 7200 rpm drives? How previous are they? verify SATA connections. If 5400 i could advise upgrading to 7200 or an SSD. If older they may be on their final leg. good success.
