I certainly hope not. Speaking as a Elementary teacher, a child in grade school does not have the maturity or wisdom to choose the proper courses to aid them through their life.

Yes it does. it is called the childrens HOME LIFE. Parents do not care anymore about their children and what happens to them. (the majority anyhow) In stead of doing their homework, they are out running the streets and then they cry, "the teacher doesn't like me when they fail", and the parents agree with them as they could care less. Not all, but a lot.

Ever so often someone trots out this line of reasoning and then it goes back in it's hole to hibernate and come out in another season. Some things never change.

The answer was/is/always will be.......Children want and need structure, boundaries, and guidance. Children are very comfortable when they know what is expected of them and children are very uncomfortable when they have no guidelines and no expectations from adults.
