If you buy a 180 degree thermostat, the thermostat will open sooner than 195 degree will. If we have a problem overheating car we install a lower degree thermo. with all that said 180.
Location:
Locate upper radiator hose,
follow hose to engine.
Where it stops is your thermostat housing,
undo those two bolts,
scrape off old gasket (some have a rubber oring seal instead) and install new thermo.
tighten bolts
top off coolant
pressure test

follow the top radiator hose back to the engine .. where this hose clamps to the aluminum housing on the engine it is located in that aluminum housing ... you must remove the air intake duct from the throttle body and i recommend removing the exhaust crossover pipe as this makes replacement much easier .. although it can be replaced without removing it but is a pain in the tail... i would not go any cooler than a 195 thermostat ... the computer in that car runs a "test" to check engine coolant temp and will set an engine light if it is not hot enough. another thing to check with that engine is intake gaskets for leaking coolant and/or engine oil ... and head-gaskets .. these gaskets are prone to leaking with any amount of mileage. both gasket replacements are fairly costly at a dealer. you may find a decent price at an independent shop. hope this helps.

on the top of the engine looking at it left or drivers side of the airfilter you will notice an exaust pipe running over the engine its under that follow the upper hose to it the bottom bolt only needs to be loosened a coupple of turnes as there ts a cutout for the bottom bolt as its a pain to get to

oh ya look for 2 nut things with screws in them 1 near thurmostat and 1 near top of engine neer radiator cap remove thease screws when filling to remove air bubbles thain put them back in
good luck

most newer fuel injected vehicles need to run at the 195 temp to run optimally. Don't go down to the 180 because if the 195 doesn't fix your problem, then you have another problem somewhere else.

Engine end of the upper radiator hose, under the housing.
