If you were wearing a red shirt that no one has ever seen before, and I said I saw it, no one questions me. But when someone says they saw a ghost, we feel compelled to rationalize what else it could have been. Why do we do this to ourselves.

Red shirts are normal everyday objects. Ghosts aren't. I guarantee that you won't see a ghost walking in downtown. There have been many times were people just make up things either to scare you or just get attention. This has been going on for so long that people have adapted to the fact that every ghost story is false. Even photos of ghosts are considered a prank. No me for example, believe in ghosts. But people don't like to believe the fact that there are ghosts. When watching a scary movie. Mommy and Daddy may say to you a million times, "Don't worry honey, ghost don't
really exist. they just want to scare you" So we never may know the truth unless we see a ghost ourselves.

same reason people look for a higher power or don't. casper the ghost is just a cartoon right? most people are closed minded and can not admit they don't KNOW the answers they just ASSUME what they BELIEVE is real. I HAVE SEEN A GHOST that is part of the reason why I am agnostic--not enough info to prove one way or the other.
besides have you seen all the lunatics that are on tv trying to "find" ghosts? that alone is enough to make sure that ghosts don't exist.
what I don't get is the christians adamant belief that ghosts don't exist when they are in the bible.... oh well

Extraordinary events leave extraordinary evidence. If there were ghosts, don't you think there would be a little more evidence then a few people saying they saw them and a few blurry pictures? When something supposedly happens that is an extraordinary event, and all the evidence is someone saying they saw it we tend no take it as fact. When yo wear a red shirt, it is not an extraordinary event, so the fact that someone says they saw it is believable.

Because when you said you are wearing a red shirt, you didn't lie to me for the past week about the color of you shirt; there are too many people making ghost sitings up to fool people.

Did you know that catholics referred to the "Holy Ghost" before they changed it to the "Holy Spirit" The fact that they specified the HOLY ghost meant there were other ghosts that were not. It is the same rational that God is quoted as saying that we should have no other gods before him, that means that there are other gods whom we are supposed to believe are lesser.

Don't say scientists don't accept the existence of ghosts because there have been studies done. The problem is that they have not been able to establish proof positive of their existence.

I. myself, strongly believe in the possibility of ghosts or spirits and such because of personal experience. I could not put my hand in fire swearing to it, but my experiences could certainly be real.

Because religion and science shape our thoughts. People who refuse to admit the presence of ghosts are mainly Christians and Catholics. (Most other religions do believe in the presence o supernatural forces on earth.) And scientific people don't even want to admit any divine presence, let alone ghosts. So these scientific minds constantly try to prove that ghosts are mere myths.

Dude, I've seen one with my own two eyes and I believe in ghosts, to say the least.

People are entitled to their own opinions, but when you see one there is no mistaking it - it'll make a believer out of anyone. And... chances are, they'll probably need some new underpants.

Because everyone has seen a red shirt at one time or another. Most people don't believe what they haven't experienced. I've heard them, seen what they can do, but I've never really seen one.
