In America today, just about anything you say will be considered racist by somebody. It has gone to the point of being ridiculous and positively stupid. About the only thing you could have said that would not have offended some pc wimps somewhere was "Great", and even that might be open to question. The safest thing to do is to say nothing to anybody, do nothing, go nowhere, and generally hide out of sight. Anything you say or do, anywhere you go, anything you see, is likely to offend a whole bunch of people who are offended by everything and who will go running to the ACLU screaming "Lawsuit!" at the slightest imagined provocation.

Oh for christ's sake. why are all the little faces next to the names white? Dave Chappelle says ******, so I can't? I know some brothas' that will stand beside me no matter what. "all you crackers suck." Does that me a racist? I'm white. I don't care about skin color. I live my life and don't worry about racial, social, economical, ecological, gynocological, lines. Who gives a rat's A$s. The only reason you'd worry about being a racist is if you know you are a racist, and are trying to pretend you aren't. My black friends have to act different around other white people "so they don't get upset" What the hell is that supposed to mean? Why should they feel a need to act different? So that they aren't judged by "you people" that's a load of crap. Get over it people. The divide is done, and if your 80 year old granddad can't deal with it, so what, he'll be dead soon enough. Let the world go neutral. The only real way to purify one race on earth is to combine all races. And admit it, even the KKK watches BET looking at Destiny's Child!

The fact that you refer to them as African-American people leads me to believe that although you may or may not be a racist, you still consider these individuals different from yourself. Taking away the obvious differences in skin pigmentation, we all think alike, breath alike and function alike. The same blood that courses through the veins of an "African-American" courses through your veins.

Only to the oversensitive.

1: You were complementing them
2: Chances are, you were just addressing the people present, not making a generality about the entire race (even if you were, its common courtesy to give someone the BOTD)

technically speaking yes: Racism is the discrimination against someone based on race, it doesn't specify whether the comment is postiive or negative. I doubt anyone would get mad over that though. If you're out having fun with your friends who cares?

Not the point. If you're having fun with friends, why would you even think along those lines. Have fun with your friends. Forget outside input. And I do mean outside input.
