I know to put the breeding pair in a dark area separated from the other fish. I know that the eggs are photo sensitive. That if they don't spaun in 24 hours to give it a week break.

Is there any other advise that you would have for me?

Use spring water and live feeds (brine shrimp hatcheries aren't that expensive) to help condition the adults.
Start working on preparing insofuria for feeding fry - a large glass jar with pond water and shredded pond weeds left standing will grow tiny micro organisms that can be fed to fry a few drops at a time.
