many cars out there for under $300 check around, just about any brand you want for that amount.

Probably a Honda Civic or an Accord on special. Depends on how much you are putting down as well. 2.5K down should get you an Accord or similar priced auto (or less) for under 300.

You could BUY a Yugo for the cost of a lease payment; just don't let your friends catch you driving it...

Get yourself a Saturn. Low maintenance, great gas mileage, comfortable ride, and they don't cost a fortune.
Plus most of them look great.
