If the light on you mobo is near the memory sticks, it is a warning light. Don't remove any memory sticks while it is lit. Do the PS fans come on when you turn the supply on? Unplug the mobo if you try this, but leave the drives and fans plugged in. The current reading that you should get is 12 volts, that is the output. When you plug the supply in does the CPU fan make a revolution or two? The supply could be no good. Did it come with your case? Get yourself a power source with a wattage of at least 400 to allow yourself room for upgrading. Don't spend less than $40 for a power supply. Those are usually junk.

Well, make sure that the Power SW (2 or 3 pin connector from the front plate) is properly connected on the bottom right of the board. If it's backwards or non exsistant, the computer will not power on, but the board will detect the presence of the power supply.

Make sure you have the wires connected to the motherboard correctly. A cheap offbrand power supply is asking for trouble.

only because it really is there does no longer mean you could plug it in! it sound like both a floppy disk potential lead or a fan lead. attempt going to the manufacturers internet website and downloading the guide for the psu, this can allow you to recognize what it really is.
