Here are some I wrote about:
The death penalty, why or why not?
Man's wants and needs vs. conservation
Do aliens exist or are we alone in the cosmos?
Just about anything you feel passionate about can be used. Make sure you back up your major points with sources that agree with you.
The one that got me "top of the class" was the persuasive argument to have all industries assume the cost of cleaning up their waste and the damage their waste causes to the environment. Good luck!

I had to do a persuasive speech and I did it on the hazards of road rage. I told them about what causes road rage and the difference between that aggressive driving.
You could also do one about not trying professional wrestling moves at home and how there have been wrestlers who died in the ring from doing moves wrong.

As you said find an issue you're passionate about, take a stance and use it to write your essay. We can all recommend topics but if you're writing about something that YOU care about then the assignment will be much easier.

You could always go with abortion or the death penalty but those are really over done. What things are you interested in? List some and I can probably think of something you could write about.

why "miracle items" are on television still, seriously? all they do is give people false hope and scam the innocent out of money! and i know that false advertising is against the law is it not? things like "oh take this you'll loose 22 pounds in two weeks and you dont have to excersize!" the cruel and wicked feast off those who despair for their flaws and must repent their crimes and be brought to justice.

You want to write about something that you believe in and you want to persuade the person to like it. Just pick somethin you like and go with it.

What are you interested in? Do you support the war?, the environment? lab animals? red state vs blue state? It all depends on what interests you.
