i know someone who had a keg dropped on their foot in a bar. since the keg was for the bar, that would make the bar liable. this would be considered an accident, so the bars' ins. company would have to pay. why would you need a lawyer for this???????

If you don't have a lawyer, the insurance company will offer you pennies on the dollar, and will jerk you around forever hoping you will make a procedural mistake if you file a complaint pro se, or that you will let the statute of limitations run. A lawyer knows what your claim is worth, and knows how to sue them in proper form. He might charge you a fee, but your overall recovery will likely go up.

That's a good question. I don't think your friend needs a lawyer, just good documentation. Did he have pictures of his injuries taken? Was a police report done? If so, no need for a lawyer. Shoot, if nothing else, go on the Judge Mathis show. You won't even have to pay costs. And he would love a case like this.

insurance companies are not there to help the injured but to help their stock holders. I would look at what the insurance co. is offering and if it doesn't cover the med. bills and time lost from work I would get a lawyer but an accident should NEVER be a get rich quick scam as it so often can be.

you don't really need a lawyer, the insurance company should settle if you persue it. you will need a lawyer if you think the settlement is too low. its quite common cause ins. cos. don't like to pay anymore than they have to.
