Does it matter how much alcohol they drink or how much other liquid they drink afterwards? Any way to be sure they are clean without buying those pricey test kits? thanks

It usually takes one hour per drink to be processed out of the body. As far as avoiding an ignition interlock device, Documented ingestion of Anibuse makes it almost impossible to to drink ANY alcohol without becoming violently ill. Whether or not this would be acceptable to the judge as an alternative is another thing all together...

I don't know where you get 0%...I thought the limit was .08 unless you're underage. generally you can clear 1 drink per hour. 1 drink means 1 beer, or 1 shot of liquor, or a glass of wine. I have seen a cheap breathalizer that my local pharmacy actually sells to tell you if you are of legal limit. It's a one time use thing, but its only 99 cents. there's nothing you can take to lower your blood alcohol content faster...or anything to make you pass the breathalizer test. Alcohol is absorbed into the lungs...therefore when you exhale..they are able to test you for alcohol. No matter what, drive safe, try to get a designated driver, don't drive if you feel even a bit tipsy.

I no longer drink; however, zero tolerance is ridiculous in a country where the buying and consumption of alcohol is legal. Where are you going to put all these people you arrest, how are you going to pay for it. And I think most importantly, you care going to have to PROVE scientifically at what level drinking reduces your reactions, etc., enough to justify saying that you are incapable of driving.
Then that will open another bucket of worms, as everyone doesn't have the same reflex times as others. Some people, slightly over the legal limit of alcohol, may still be safer than others, say older people. What's going to be fair here? I better also mention that groups other than elders may not have optimum reflexes, either, for instance newly licensed drivers, or Mom's with 3 kids in the car screaming; lovers quarreling, the list goes on.

The rate in which you metabolize and expel all the alcohol from your system varies from person to person. As a general rule of thumb, it's about 1 hour per drink. A drink would be 8oz of beer, 1 shot of liquor or 4oz of wine.

That depends on your height, weight, the alcohol content or proof of what you were drinking, how much you drank, what you ate or drank (non-alcoholic) during, prior to, and after drinking alcohol.
