The worlds largest horse was named Brookie a 19.2h 3900lb Percheron. He had a girth size of 10 ft. and his collar was 40 inches. He died in 1948. You can see a pic of him and learn more info on the website below.

The World's Largest Horse ever recorded was a Shire gelding named Samson, bred by Thomas Cleaver of Toddington Mills, England. Foaled in 1846, this horse measured 21.2 1/2 hand high ( 7 ft. 2 inches) in 1850, and weighed 3,360 pounds.Samson is also recorded as the "HEAVIEST" horse weighing 1524 kg (3360 lbs.)

I believe the largest breed of horse is the English 'Clydesdale', which used to be used for heavy transport wagons in the old days.
