Do you have multiple thermostats and zone valves on the furnace? Turn the thermostats on to ask for heat and feel the pipes above and below the circulating pump to see if it is operating. Listen VERY carefully to see if you can hear the pump turning. It could be the 24V control which has been disconnected. Without it the zone valves will not open and activate the circulating pump. Look around the area where the work was being done for any broken or loose wires.

The plumber probably left your boiler on 'hot water only', if it's a combi boiler there will be a dial on the front (or under a flap on the front) that either - points to a picture of a tap or a tap and radiator (turn it to point to the tap and radiator for your heating to come on) or a button that shows a picture of the sun and/or a snowflake (push the button to bring your heating on).
Also make sure that your programmer (timeclock) is switched on (the bit that you set the on/off times on) and that your room thermostat (if fitted) is turned up.
If you have an 'ordinary' boiler (not a combination boiler) make sure that your programmer (timeclock) is switched on (the bit that you set the on/off times on) and that your room thermostat is turned up.
With either type of boiler, the pump is not the problem as you wouldn't get hot water (unless you've got a REALLY old gravity system, unlikely as you know what the pressure is in the system). Hope this helps, but could do with knowing what make/model the boiler is.

Sounds like trapped air, you need to bleed all the rads in the house.
Use a rad key open top right side of rad, once opened you should
hear a hissing noise after that you should see water coming out,
tighten up the valve and the rad should be getting hot.

Maybe the rads need 'bleeding'.
Make sure pump is off - not running.
Go to each radiator with the 'key' and open each vent to release any air. (As soon as water comes out - tighten up again)
Do this to every radiator in the system.
Turn pump back on.

Purge the air out of the system and turn the thermostates up. If the heater and pump is working you should have hot water to the radiators.

Have you turned the Central Heating Switch on,as it's a bit early for Switching on yet, perhaps the Fitter switched it off.

if your sure the boiler is working.
then turn it on.
follow the pipes out from the boiler.
see where the pipes go.
the pipes should be carrying the steam.
find the value the is closed.
open that value
