Somewhat. My father's side of the family is completely Amish. He left the Amish when he was 18. My mother was Amish until 3 years old. There are many types of Amish. Some are more conservative than other "liberals."
They cannot use electricity or own cars or tractors with rubber wheels. Their food is AMAZING, and they make all their own clothes (no buttons or zippers for the more conservative). They traditionally wear dark clothing (blacks, browns, blues) but some wear brighter colors.
For all their strictness, they are lenient on dating and "sleeping over" with your boyfriend. Some Amish girls become pregnant before marriage. The older communities also do not believe in birth control.
I could go on (because I'm always around them) but I'll stop for now. Hope this helped.

no. i have seen quite a few Amish people, they dont really seem like that. i dont think you will get very good answers on here since none of them will personally answer your question because they use very little modern technology in order to keep their purity and simplicity, etc. I can tell you they are very quiet people and seem very nice. i went to an herbologist in an Amish community, it was very quiet around there but i didnt see many others besides him where we were.

A much better depiction of Amish life is WITNESS which is also a very, very good movie.

No movie does especially with a cast like that!! It must've been a low budget film!
