Maybe treasure under the floor boards? Maybe just crusty old socks the owners left.

We have buzzards living in OUR abandoned house. And a giant oak tree that blew over during hurricane Katrina. There is an ancient old upright piano, and some pioneer-age chairs and other broken furniture, and my clawfoot bathtub that I'm planning on taking out to put in another house. There WAS a pool table with camoflage felt, but it was stolen! The whole 2 abandoned acres and all the abandoned buildings on the property contain the reeking stench of our own irresponsibility.

Abandoned houses are cool. They're like time capsules. You can see stuff that hasn't been seen since the 70s and 80s or before. I looked into the backyard of one and saw an Oldsmobile that had been parked there since 1985. Old Coke cans, McDonalds toys, and magazines in the back. Not sure you'll find any treasure. The crackheads that flop there tend to take anything that is valuable and sell it to pay the crack whores, as Sher pointed out.

If the house is sufficiently big enough and has at least one buried treasure chest under the floor boards, expect to see a group of meddling teenagers and their talking dog. To get rid of them, run around the house in some form of disguise and scare them away. Since you are already a giant foul, you don't have to worry too much about that disguise. The chances of this working are slim, but what better things do you have to do on a rainy Sunday then to scare the crap out of trespassing hoodlums? Good luck with that.

In an abandoned house down the road from where I grew up, thieves would hide things they store. Once they left a fur coat there. Later on, of all things, there was a teddy bear.

hmmmmm, When I was a kid we lived in an OLD semi abandoned home, I found old bank account numbers scribbled on the wall inside a closet, I found a bank lock box key hidden behind the door casing.. INSIDE the closet, rusty tools, old coal still in the coal shutte, mouse skeletons, old push button light switches and glass door knobs on solid wood doors, skeleton key locks. layers and layers of old wall paper, jewelry under the wood porch, old coins where the old out house use to be, heck they have even demolished some old homes to find money had been stashed in the walls! they burned some old homes to find piles of melted silver where coins had been put in the wall! Slate roof tiles, a deep cast iron sink, a claw foot tub, knob and tube electrical wiring.....I had a lot of fun in that house! :) thanx for the memories

I once found 4 1954 disney comics stuffed in a wall of an abandoned house. They weren't in mint condition or anything, but not horrible considering how they were found.
